Schools and Youth Groups

NWO is keen to promote orienteering in schools and among youth groups. We work with  Wiltshire and Swindon Sport (WASP) to provide orienteering events for the heats and finals of Sainsbury’s School Games. We have also run special events for clusters of schools. We have run orienteering activity sessions for groups of teachers in Swindon, Chippenham, Marlborough and Devizes in order to encourage teachers to introduce orienteering into their schools. We can provide advice on how to get an orienteering map of a school made.

Scout Groups and other groups are welcome to any of our events and in particular several groups have attended our Tuesday evening Club Night (please give notice if you plan to bring a group so that we can prepare for you). Groups have also made use of our permanent orienteering courses

The club has helped junior members wishing to do orienteering as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

The British Orienteering Federation can organise accredited courses for teachers. Local teachers intending to introduce orienteering into their school have attended this course.
